Gorgeous romantic bolthole
with knock-out views

usp
Chalet Thomas is a divine little one up, one down stand-alone chalet in Verbier, just perfect for two. It is a delightful, romantic hideaway, with uninterrupted views out over to Bruson – a real find.

location
The chalet is located quite high up, next to Chalet Chineur on the Savoleyres mountain side of Verbier. It is high enough to be able to have no buildings in front of it ruining the views, and is just two minutes by car from the Savoleyres lift station – five minutes to Medran. A driver service is laid on in the evenings too, between 7pm and 11pm, to take guests out to dinner if they wish.

style
Chocolate-box charming and traditional, with a modern, state-of-the-art black slate rain shower that has a huge window maximising those views. The chalet is owned by an antiques dealer and is decorated with excellent taste, including stags’ antlers and trinkets from around the world. ^

rooms
The double bedroom upstairs is genuinely huge, taking up the whole of the top floor, and has a balcony looking out over the resort and the other side of the valley. The downstairs living area also has a balcony that stretches the width of the building and is delightful, with a hide-away kitchen that can be screened off behind built-in shutters.
There is also a pull-down bed in the living area, sneakily hidden in the wooden walls, which would be perfect for a child, and a second child could sleep on the sofa bed if you wanted to come en famille with little ones.^

spa facilities
Chalet Thomas has no spa facilities.
^

children
Children could stay at Chalet Thomas and would enjoy sleeping in the pull-down bed, although this does compromise the living area given that it pulls down over where the sofa sits. It is probably more suited to being a romantic bolthole for two.
^

extras
The chalet has a log fire and flat screen TV, as well as full-width balconies on both floors.
^

for skiers
Verbier is a grown-up, world class ski resort, with 410km of skiing for all levels and particularly excellent, accessible off-piste. If you haven’t skied there yet, do so as soon as possible. There are even world-beating mogul runs, should you love bump skiing, and lots of great events such as the Nissan Xtreme Verbier in March and the XSpeedSki in April.
^

for non skiers
The town is a vibrant, bustling, big resort with loads of shops selling everything from the inevitable ski gear to gorgeous home furnishings. If you want a cowskin rug or some designer lighting or the latest Moncler ski jacket, Verbier is the place.
^

best thing
Its stand-alone privacy and that fabulous rain shower. ^

worst thing
It is accessed via a slightly tricky path – you have to really watch your step.
^

getting there
Verbier is 1hr 45mins from Geneva and 45 mins from Sion. Transfers can be arranged by the chalet at an extra cost.
^

bottom line
The chalet sleeps two and costs from £1250, or £625 per person.

"My girlfriend (now fiancée) couldn't have been more impressed with the chalet, the location, and the fantastic week we had arranged for us. I proposed within four hours of getting there – the chalet made the perfect romantic backdrop.”

“It was lovely to be able to relax in a fabulous chalet after a day’s skiing. Its so much better than being limited to a hotel room."
